fantastic product, fantastic price

we have a 2004 honda crv and were looking for a bike rack to carry 3 bikes. installation is simple and the bikes are very securely attached to the rack. it takes only minutes to install. it did leave small marks on the tire cover when i left it on, so i take off the cover. overall…fantastic product at a fantastic price!

I have had the Allen spare tire bike carrier for two years. It fits my 2000 Honda CRV perfectly and was simple to mount. Unlike some other carriers the Allen carrier is relatively light and does not add a lot of weight on the back door. This is vital since any extra weight in addition to the bicycles can cause the door to droop and make it hard to close when loaded. It is also a breeze to place the bikes on the rack, and since it has two bars they don’t wobble around. Of course, some bikes are made a small differently than others and you have to figure out how to best seat each bike in the most secure manner. For security I loop a cable around the part of the spare tire carrier that is welded on the door and then around the bikes themselves. Really, I have one cable lock permanently locked onto the spare tire mount, and then I take a second cable and loop it through the first cable. This makes the process of securing the bikes much simpler. Any problems you may have are addressed VERY promptly by Allen Racks customer service. Excellent company! Highly recommended.

This is a fantastic product. It is lightweight, sturdy, simple to use and folds flat for storage. I have no complaints whatsoever.

The prodcut is excellent, it is very simple to set up. I Use it with two mountain bikes rather than three and so far it is working safe . The excellent thing is that I just live it in the spare tire all the time; There is no need to take it out all the time. You can carry other things like picknick chairs for example.
Would be better if you could bent the arms and also add some knid of reflective stickers for safety reasons.

Bike Rack is exactly as advertised. I had some reservations after reading some of the other reviews, but, it exceded even my intial expectations. I have carried 3 full size bikes with no problem. Rack is strong and well constructed and it is very simple to install. I recommend this rack for anyone who has a rear mounted spare tire.

I looked at dozens of designs, and picked this one: Fantastic design, holds 3 bikes, and holds them well. I would recommend it and would buy another in the future. It’s a fantastic design overall, very well engineered. The spare tire holds the weight well, excellent balance, etc. I’d give 4.5 stars but the system doesn’t provide for half stars; or 5 stars but for one thing. I only felt 80% safe with the provided attachment hardware, worried that it might pop off over a rough road. I tied it down with a small rope and we’re all pleased. The hardware holding the bikes to the rack is well-designed; holds the bikes firmly yet with quick release.

Super simple and sturdy for ’99 CR-V

I bought this after reading many reviews here on bike racks. This rack was only $79 (!) and it works like a charm. Simple to mount on tire and doesn’t budge once it’s on. Based on recommendations on Amazon I also bought the Allen bike adaptor for my womens commuter bike and it made loading that bike a breeze. I also racked my daughter’s ancient Schwinn banana seat bike – could have probably used an adaptor for that too (had only ordered one though!) but tilted it and it worked fine. Rack package arrived in fantastic shape 3 days after I ordered it. Would whole heartedly recommend to CR-V owners. FYI – I was able to open the CR-V rear hatch window and the back door with the bikes on the rack which I had wondered about.
worth the money

I bought this rack for my 07 Jeep Wrangler Unlimted. It fits fine on my spare tire with the cover on and I have the larger size tire. After I figured it out, it only took a minute to out on. The only issue I had was one of the straps would not stretch far enough to hook inside the tailgate. It seemed to be the same length as the other one, maybe the tire is on bit uneven. I was able to rectify by looping a small bungee cord through it and using that to hook into the inside of the tailgate. Simple fix. I have a womens bike with a sloped frame and I certainly needed a tension bar, which I did not have,but I was able to use a large sturdy bungee as a makeshift bar. Then I used another large bungee to secure the bike to frame. I was impressed by how sturdy and well made it is. I drove around with it like that and it didn’t budge.
One more thing– I read alot of complaints about the condition of the box when it was received. I guess Amazon heard the complaints and did something about it because the box was perfectly wrapped in thick plastic and the box and contents were in pristine condition. Oh and I ordered the Allen tension bar.
Works on my CR-V but not ideal

My 2004 CR-V has the spare tire quite far off to the right side. The bike rack fits on the car, but the bikes hang too far out to the side unless I take the wheels off. Solves a problem for me, but not an ideal rack for this car.

This is a fantastic rack. I was a small hesitant to see my vehicle (98 Chevy Tracker) was not on the list of vehicles it fit, but I had no distress installing it.VERY simple instalation, and no tools required. My bike was secure on the back roads I traveled, even over railroad tracks, and I am sure it would be just as safe on the highways. I don’t know how it would be for multiple bikes, I only transported mine. I also bought the Allen Tension Bar Bicycle Cross-Bar Adaptor for my bike to attach it to the rack, I recomend it if you haave a girls bike. Again, simple instalation, no tools required. If you have a rear tire mount, this is the best rack for the price.
